Kate Ruttle is a First Class Textiles BSc Hons graduate from the University of Huddersfield specialising in weave. Her Final Major Project, ArchiteXt, explores her interest in 3D weaving and technical textile design. The collection is for use in commercial interiors as archi-textiles for universities, conference centres and theatres as 3D acoustic panels and partition walls.
During Kate's placement year as part of her studies, she completed a 12 month placement with worsted textile mill, Bower Roebuck, which is based in Huddersfield. This gave Kate experience in working with high end fashion brands to tight deadlines and built on Kate's keen interest in technical designing of luxury fabrics.
The ArchiteXt is a collection of 3D woven fabrics for use in interior archi-textiles for theatres, conference centres and universities. The textiles can be used as sculptural space dividers, partition walls and acoustic panels, adding sound absorbency, privacy, and adaptability to commercial interior spaces.
