About
Keisha Brittle is an aspiring artist specialising in glass, currently looking at exploring colour, form, and pattern. She is also experiment in incorporating a second material within her work. She draws her inspiration from various aspects of nature within her work.
I am an aspiring glass artist; my work represents and expresses my journey of reconnecting with my family. I have drawn on the patterns I see in nature around me, especially being outside on family holidays and the photographs that were sent to me by my Grandad in the Caribbean. My pieces have a story, a meaning, and a personal connection. When working with glass I love to explore many processes in both hot and cold working. I have found ways to further develop layering, colour, and pattern. Through the techniques of cold-working and embellishment, I have emphasised the light inside my glass to highlight the patterns within the forms. I love to incorporate colour and explore how each pigment interacts with another: when a colour has been blended within a single piece or when multiple pieces have been overlapped to give a unique combination and pattern. I want my pieces to communicate my passion for the material and the joy of making.
