I’m Lance Tasker, a footwear designer and recent graduate of the BA (Hons) Footwear, Design and Innovation course at London College of Fashion. Before studying design, I built a career in luxury retail with Russell & Bromley, where I developed a strong understanding of craftsmanship, quality, and customer experience. My inspiration comes from my mother’s creativity, her self-taught dressmaking skills, and her collection of vintage shoes and unique clothing, all of which have shaped my design philosophy. For my final project, I developed the concept of “fraternal twin” footwear, shoes designed to form a flowing narrative across both feet, coming together as one cohesive design.
I’m passionate about creating meaningful products with craftsmanship at the forefront. On this project, I worked with embroidery, velvet, veg tanned leather, and wood detailing to celebrate both tradition and innovation. My goal is to collaborate with artists, designers, and makers to build a community that values creativity, individuality, and timeless craftsmanship.
Being an identical twin has made me deeply aware of the tension between sameness and individuality. While my twin and I mirror one another, we are never truly identical, this duality inspires my footwear. I design shoes that reject repetition, instead becoming “fraternal twins” that flow together yet remain distinct. Each pair tells a story across both feet, forming a dialogue rather than a duplication. In contrast to the uniformity of mass production, my work celebrates difference, craftsmanship, and the beauty of imperfection. Through this approach, I aim to challenge conventions and offer footwear that feels both personal and poetic.
