Lauren Ward is a London-based womenswear designer specialising in print and surface textiles. Fuelled by her love of ecclesiastical horror and traditional ghost stories; particularly tales of haunted items of clothing, Laurens collection ‘Possession’ began when she obtained a pair of her gran’s old curtains. Feeling that these curtains were a physical encompassing of her gran, this sentimental value was fused with a darker narrative of the curtains having malicious intent, forming the idea of them taking over the physical body. ‘Possession’ explores personal loss through the sentient power and immortality of clothing, and how- after a person’s death- clothes are the tangible self left behind.
