Ling Yin Shum is a contemporary jewellery designer deeply rooted in healing, nature, and personal introspection. Born in Hong Kong, she pursued her passion for jewellery design by earning a BA (Hons) in Jewellery Design from Central Saint Martins (2020-2023), followed by an MA in Jewellery and Metal from the Royal College of Art, from which she graduated in August 2024.
Throughout her career, Ling Yin Shum has been captivated by the question, 'Why healing?' Her exploration led her to a unique perspective-the intimate connection between healing and space. She sees space as a natural force for healing through personal introspection, symbolizing vitality and energy in her work. This perspective has profound implications for healing, both physical and mental, and is a defining feature of her designs.
Ling Yin specializes in interactive jewellery that invites the wearer to engage with the natural world. Currently, Ling Yin is working on a collection that explores the healing properties of natural elements, water. Her creations are not just adornments but tools for healing, embodying a unique blend of nature, space, and artistic innovation. Her pieces utilize techniques like solar patination, transforming colour on metal under sunlight, and encouraging wearers to step outside and connect with their environment. Dreaming of a world where self-care and healing through connecting with nature take priority over technology, Ling Yin hopes that her pieces act as a bridge to create that relationship.

Ling Yin's work blends art, design, and healing, turning everyday objects into tools for introspection and emotional well-being. Using kinetic structures, mirrored illusions, and interactive elements, she invites viewers to explore multiple perspectives and embrace their healing potential. Inspired by quantum mechanics and four-dimensional spaces, her "Vital Space" collection is structured into three series1: "Contemplation," focusing on introspection; series2 "Interaction," encouraging active engagement; and series3 "Transformation," exploring change and growth. Each series represents a step in the healing journey, fostering reflection, connection, and transformation. Ling’s work aims to guide viewers through this cycle, encouraging them to explore their own paths to healing.
