Liudmila (Lucy) Tuchkova is an Eco-Architect and ESG Strategist with an MA from the Royal College of Art. Her work is a fusion of green architecture, financial strategy, and natural systems. She creates innovative solutions that restore harmony between people and the environment. Her project, the Smart Eco-Shelter, is a tangible example of this philosophy. Driven by a passion to build a more sustainable world, she believes that our greatest innovations can be found in a deep connection with nature.
The Smart Eco-Shelter is a textile architecture project from the Royal College of Art, offering an adaptive solution to climate change. Inspired by the ‘mother tree’ concept, it addresses how drought-stricken ecosystems, like Portugal's Montado, fail to protect new saplings. Acting as a 'second canopy,' the shelter uses a unique textile woven with agricultural waste like wool and straw. Its hygroscopic properties collect moisture, while its design cools the microclimate and reduces solar radiation, fostering new life. This project is a tangible promise to restore harmony between human design and the natural world, nurturing life for future generations.
