Fashion designer who focuses on print and digital mediums to deliver a new outlook on what sportswear and streetwear can become. Inter-disciplinary design is a key component in my practice. With a strong influence of graphic design, 3D modelling as well as pattern making, my work involves the use of digital tools to explore composition, colour as well as texture. Shapes and volumes are translated into patterns in the form of lines as a mean to alter the wearer's body by creating a streamlined silhouette. As a result, the dialogue between 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional elements and how they interact is core to my design methodology. Soon starting my MA in Fashion and sustainable technology at IED, I want to further develop my skills in digital fabrication, bio-materials and smart materials. I strongly believe that these tools can provide solutions and innovation in a near future for the fashion industry in terms of sustainability and design solutions.
“In psychology, a gestalt is something that has particular qualities when you consider it as a whole which are no obvious when you consider only the separate parts of it” Configuration and arrangements of fragments of my visual memory. Volumes become lines, translating into abstract shapes that intertwine thanks to the use of color and different levels of shine, creating movement and dynamism. Recurring lines serve as the foundation for the patterns, while the prints are brought to life by layering sublimation printing and screen-printing different types of inks, creating new volumes within the fabric. Gestalt is a study about myself and what drives me visually, a first step into establishing my designer DNA; combining fashion, graphic design and technology, and using intuition and the subconscious as a design method.
