Lydia Paget is a fashion graduate specialising in creative pattern cutting, womenswear, and accessories. Her graduate collection, “Bag Scenario,” examines the intricate relationship between women and their bags—objects that function not only as practical necessities but also as integral parts of daily dress.
Lydia drew inspiration from the rhythms of the everyday, observing how handbags are seamlessly integrated into a woman’s daily uniform. She explored this idea through trompe l’oeil techniques, using silhouette and form to suggest the presence of a bag within the garment itself while also examining accessories more broadly. Teaching herself the craft of leather bag making, Lydia reinterpreted and expanded classic bag silhouettes into unconventional garment structures—highlighting not only their functional role but also the occasional inconvenience they can impose.
“Bag Scenario" explores the relationship between women and their bags, highlighting both the playful and sometimes inconvenient roles they occupy within a woman's dress.
