About
Maddie is passionate about bringing hand embroidery into a current society and for it to be recognised and respected as a contemporary craft. With in her work she takes inspiration form nature, with surrounded her while growing up in Derbyshire, along with elements that influence her on a day-to-day basis, such as popular culture, her friends, music and now living in London as a young creative. Maddie combines these current themes with traditional hand embroidery techniques
‘Trance’ is a collection of club wear, inspired by my love of music, dance, raves, and the culture surrounding it. I explored lighting, visual effects, music and dance through hand embroidery, using traditional techniques such as Tambour and Crewelwork aiming to combine traditional embroidery with a contemporary subject. The collection comprises a sleeveless jacket, embellished boots, a bustier, and a skirt
Lampshade design stages and hand embroidered sample, entry for The Bradford Textile Society Competition, 2022. This lampshade, along with other interior pieces, was inspired by the Scottish coastal landscape. Embroidery techniques such as Gold work and Crewel work were included.
