I'm a visual artist living and working in Brussels, Belgium. My artistic practice centers on sightlines, perception and viewing relations. They form the foundation of my research as a sociologist, designer, scenographer, and visual artist. I explore the affective, intuitive gaze. How does a gaze resonate in an impression that lingers?
Eyeing the caught sight is a video essay about staring. Mirror installations cast a gaze upon scenes across various landscapes—scenes where little, and yet a lot, seems to be happening. They stare. In the image captured by the mirror, other things become visible. The video essay is presented as a video installation and invites the viewer to follow this movement of looking—without the urge to understand immediately. It explores the gesture of staring across different landscapes. Perhaps you only begin to wonder afterwards what it was you actually saw—in the impression it left behind.
