unearthed: recontextualisation of gemer ceramics
The work deals with the question of locality and authenticity in the context of Gemer ceramics. It draws on contemporary material theories and critically reflects on folklorism. The author perceives material as a culturally significant aspect and repositions it as décor/ornament through burnished surfaces that reveal the natural structure of the local material. A large part of the project is thus dedicated to material and technological research, aiming to use raw and unrefined clay for the creation of ceramic objects.
