I am a final year student at Sheffield Hallam doing Fashion design.
My work has been a movement to put life back into a forgotten form of self expression,my own family's heritage which is the taino tribe from Jamaica.I have based all my research around different tribes in the native american community and expanded my understanding of their interests, life styles and religions/ belief systems.Lately I have found myself tapping into the more spiritual side of myself to keep myself grounded and make decisions in regards to my collection. For me this has felt very freeing and allowed me to be able to focus and direct my energy into what I'm passionate about. Which is fashion but not only creating clothes but making people feel certain things just by watching my collection such as calm, and happiness.Over the past few months I have felt very close to my ancestors and family doing this project and learnt very interesting things about not only people that have come before me but about myself too.
This project is a short diffusion line of my graduate collection that focuses more on the spiritual ceremonial side of Native American tribes. I have created some looks using my print design from my mainline collection and adapted them into more casual loose fitting clothes
A project based on tailoring based on fetish art/fashion and the materials and fastenings that fetish fashion can bring to the product design of trench coats to create new concepts From Level 5 semester 1
This project started off by researching into different spiritual practices such as yoga angel numbers and auras/ aura colours. This is a speculative design project so it is based on the theory that we will eventually be forced to live in the night as night owls as it will be too hot in the day to function. Based on this my project has a very strong colour theory behind it as living in the dark would need luminous colours to show up. Also moral will be down during the dark so therefor I researched colours that make people happy like yellow, orange, purple and green. All of this research lead to a heavily colourful and bright print collection with an end result on Clo3D materialising my final piece and making it come to life.
This project is all about the fluidity that is in objects and fabrics that had a final outcome of a recycled blazer that was in all black fabric From level 4 semester 2
