I am an industrial and product designer from Bengaluru, India. With a master’s degree in Product Design from the Royal College of Art, I have worked on projects in sustainability and social wellbeing. I enjoy collaboration and designing with the target users. At the RCA, I worked with parents who are wheelchair users to improve playtime with their children. As a designer I am always open to learning and do not have rigid boundaries as to what qualifies as ‘product design’. I wish to keep experimenting and exploring this wonderful field.
In the UK alone, there are approximately 20,000 wheelchair-using parents, yet many baby products, such as strollers and changing tables, remain inaccessible to them. Cresco is a wheelchair-attachable trike for children that also folds into a simple arm ergometer or an arm pedal to provide physical therapy for the parent. The product’s multifunctionality ensures its usefulness even after the child grows older. Cresco aims to enhance the bonding experience and physical health of both parent and child through a simple, shared trike. Parents who use wheelchairs can now teach their children to ride a bike while getting some exercise themselves. All aspects of life must be inclusive, and that includes parenting.
