My name is Olga, I’m 29 years old and I grew up in a small village in south of Sweden. I work with moving images, installation, and sculpture where I investigate human and non-human memory. My films are often of a documentary nature, where I am interested in both collective and personal stories connected to a specific place and the stories found there. The video works are shown both in an art context and in a film context at film festivals etc.
In my installations and sculptures, I explore the metaphor of nature as scenography, nature as an image to be surrounded by and contemplate versus the fact of seeing ourselves as biological beings that share an ecosystem. I do this by, for example, playing with the scale of the sculptures or with film installations that envelop the visitor in order to destabilize them, in an attempt to emphasize the constructed nature of perception.
3-channel video installation that examines Svalbard through the different experiences of eleven people. Geopolitics, poetic memories from the sea ice, stories about the mountain having a female voice, time standing still in a ghost town, time running out as climate is destabilizing the place and the lack of a collective memory, are traces that introduce the viewer to different aspects of Svalbard.
