Hi, I'm Phoebe Hassell, a fashion design graduate from Birmingham City University. My contemporary designs show innovation, whilst keeping a fun, jovial aesthetic, as well as highlighting important issues such as sustainability.
TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER
'Take Me To Your Leader' is a sustainable, sportswear collection based on rap legend, MF DOOM. I took inspiration from his witty lyricism, comic book villain persona, and desire for privacy and anonymity.
'BeetleJuice, BeetleJuice...Beetle_' is a collection inspired by Tim Burton's cult classic 'Beetlejuice'. I focused on the structural shapes featured throughout the film, from the sculptures made by Deliah, to the quirky set design of the afterlife.
Following on from the conceptual collection 'Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetle_', 'Orange Beetle' (Beetlejuice's alternative name), is a diffusion collection, taking aspects from the original collection and making them more wearable, whilst keeping the fun, quirky design.
Exploring the work of Camille Billops, who was a multi-media artist, activist and filmmaker, and creating my own brand, telling my own personal story of how breaking my wrist affected my final year at university.
