My art practices consist of two logo syllabic language systems that are intertwined with pop culture references and neo-expressionism art movement as of late. My main figure consists of something that I have dubbed as a ghostie: a ghost-like cartoon shape, similar to a Pacman ghost with a skull floating where its face would be. I named this figure ‘ghostie’ to give it a more harmless cute appearance, as typically a ghost with a skull in it could bring up the connotation of death and negative energies. This figure is supposed to be a representation of the things we never admit or tell anyone, a manifestation of the secrets and untold truths that we keep within us and is supposed to help support the messages that I inscribe on its stomach. The two logo syllabic writing systems involved in my practice are made up of unique glyphs that I have created myself.
These works are part of an ongoing series in which I gather individuals' secrets and translate them into my own unique and distinctive glyph systems that no one knows the translation of. The ghostly figure represents a reflection of our innermost selves—embodying the truths we conceal and the secrets we may end up taking to the grave.
