About
Ever since he was a child, Ryan has always had a fascination with photography starting out with his phone capturing nature and wildlife whilst studying photography as a hobby on the side.
Whilst at university Ryan found his passion in portraiture and sociological documentary. The majority of the people Ryan photographs are normal, non-professional, everyday people you would see in whilst on your way to work or going into shops which makes the images you see feel a lot more raw and natural and lets you connect with the message more.
Ryan believes everyone should have a voice and attempts to help uplift those underrepresented voices and give them a platform and that the world should see what really goes on around them.
Murton Miners is a project that focuses on the village I grew up in and the history surrounding it. This series celebrates the lives of those who worked in the pit and legacy they left, using real newspapers , documents and photographs from those times it allowed the audience to connect with the miners I photographed and interviewed and learn about the tiny village in the North East of England.
