I am interested in discovering unique meeting points, intersections of opposites, from which to build a narrative. I find a special magic in bringing together unrelated threads from of history, technique, and technology to create an amalgamation of ideas within a project. While developing my senior collection, “Sincerely, Ingénue”, I borrowed inspiration from 18th Century France and 1920’s fascination with phantasmagoria, the study of ghosts and the supernatural, to craft a story of living so deeply within your mind you become haunted by your thoughts.
Sincerely, Ingénue tells the story of falling so deeply within yourself, the lines between reality and your mind disappear. The collection plays with themes of escapism through references to 18th century France, early feminist literature, and ghost stories.
