I'm a young womenswear designer based in London, having graduated from University of Westminster in 2023 with First-Class honours in Fashion Design.
Being born in Poland but growing up in London, I have always felt disconnected from my Polish heritage - hence I have found myself drawn to it as a source of inspiration for all my design work. As a designer, I want to modernise traditional Polish designs and costume, as it is full of texture, volume, colour, and print.
Pa Marzanna is a collection inspired by medieval pagan rituals and folklore characters of modern-day Poland; portraying the transition from fall to spring and hence the banishment of fear and misfortune in favour of warmth and positivity. Drawn from personal memories of dressed-up carolers in Poland from my childhood, each look is inspired by the different characters of Polish folklore; Death, Devil, Turoń, Dziad, Rusałka, and Angel. My aim was to convey the personalities and history of each character through the juxtaposition of fabric, textures and silhouettes, leading us through the journey of seasonal and emotional transition.
