Yaling is a visionary jewelry designer inspired by the intricate complexities of the human body and the profound essence of humanity. She specializes in interactive kinetic jewelry, crafting pieces that are both conceptual and dynamic.
Having recently graduated with a Master of Arts in Jewelry Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design, Yaling also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology. Her technical and creative skills were further honed during a transformative year-long exchange at Central Saint Martins in the United Kingdom, where she engaged with a vibrant international artistic community.
In our contemporary society, digital has become an integral part of our existence, serving as virtual extensions of our physical bodies that permeate every aspect of our lives. Jewelry, as an artifact intricately linked to the human body, similarly extends with the physical presence into the virtual realm. This project seeks to explore the interplay between moving images and jewelry's representation of the body, examining their commonalities and boundaries. By delving into this relationship, I aim to uncover new insights into the role of visual culture in shaping our understanding of the body and its adornments in the digital age.
