About
Ying Ou is a footwear designer and artist. After graduating with a degree in womenswear design, she began to focus on footwear design. She has also gained extensive experience working as a designer for well-known footwear and fashion brands. In 2023, Ying completed her MA in Footwear at London College of Fashion.
Ying enjoys exploring the human body, form, and human emotional needs. As a result a unique mix of reflective, sensual, elegant, sculptural and experimental personal aesthetics can be seen in her work.
This footwear collection comes out of my fear and unease about the rigidity of self-consciousness caused by the physical separation of the human body from the external environment in public space in this era. As the development of digital technology and the repeated ravages of the epidemic have exacerbated the disconnection between the body and the physical world, new fields of perception have affected our social systems and habits and have changed the way we perceive the world, which are key elements in the construction of self-identity. This is a collection of 4 fashion concept shoes and 2 experimental concept shoes. "Awakening" collection explores the unconscious and unusual interaction between the most obvious objects that have lost their connection in public space - railings or handrails - and the body, experiencing their different mental space sensations. In doing so, it explores new forms of footwear that attempt to awaken human communication and perception of objects in public space. And looking for breakthroughs in metal, rub off leather and 3D printing.
