About

Hello, my name is Yoon Seo Lee, and I am from South Korea.

why did I start studying fashion design? the answer is simple. art has no fixed answer, and I find immense joy in communicating with others through clothing. during middle and high school, I was always focused on finding the right answers, with no room for exploration or deep consideration. however, in my first year as a fashion design major, I discovered the freedom to express my thoughts and ideas through my passion for fashion.

clothing is perhaps the most accessible form of art; it's everywhere. yet, the true essence of fashion often feels disconnected from society. fashion tends to shy away from broader societal interactions, becoming increasingly introverted. At the same time, clothes in commercial spaces are merely simplified imitations of fashion.

for me, fashion design is about communication. a designer should convey messages through design, texture, and other creative techniques, emphasizing originality. With advancements in science and fashion, materials like Gore-Tex and heat-tech are being developed, and ergonomic designs that are friendly to the human body are emerging, enabling the creation of garments without traditional sewing methods.

I've recently realized that many designs and garments are being forgotten. to address sustainability and environmental concerns, we should explore alternatives like 3d computer programs and virtual reality, including the metaverse, to engage with customers.

as a designer based in New York, I pursue a cutting-edge street fashion style with a unique aesthetic approach. my work blends the ordinary aspects of life, current experiences, nostalgia, and industry insights to create a rich, hybrid experience known as 'behind-the-scenes.' this collection is grounded in a refined design worldview, reflecting aesthetic values with an interdisciplinary approach. inspired by diverse subjects, where innovation and harmony converge, my collection proposes a "hip & cool" style with a genderless mood.

This collection draws inspiration from the individualistic approach to packing luggage, highlighting the diverse methods people use to organize their belongings. Inspired by my own childhood experiences of hiding personal items during travel from my parents and intrigued by the tactics employed by smugglers. I incorporate elements of concealment into garment details and print patterns. Researching TSA Instagram photos and collaging everyday objects found in luggage, I create conceptual streetwear pieces that blur the line between practicality and innovation. Emphasizing everyday experiences while maintaining a conceptual edge, this collection offers a unique exploration of personal narratives and clandestine motifs.
