A lover of pixels
Sound of the Underground is an immersive artwork exploring soil ecoacoustics—the study of the hidden sonic life beneath our feet. Beginning with recordings at Te Aro Pā, soil micro-communications were transformed into evolving visual forms with generative code. Housed inside a shipping container at the 2025 Performance Arcade festival, the work used surround sound and audio-reactive visuals inspired by natural growth patterns to create a living, breathing underground world. By translating scientific data into a sensory experience, the project reframes soil as a complex, fragile system and invites audiences to connect with soil biodiversity on a deeper level.
