We are delighted to announce that in Part 2 for 2016 we will have again have experts from The Society of Artists Agents (SAA) to advise graduate illustrators.

The Society of Artists Agents (SAA) is a group of like-minded British Illustrators' Agents whose main aim is to promote the use of quality illustration and encourage the very highest standards of professionalism for the mutual benefit of clients, illustrators and agents. The SAA collectively represent over 1000 top flight illustrators - they nurture new talent as well as promoting established artists throughout the world. The SAA believe in putting back into the industry by helping to educate creative graduates through various educational events and portfolio surgeries which they hold on an annual basis. They enjoy strong links with the AOI, Arts Thread and many Universities nationwide.

Stuart Whitton is an agent with Handsome Frank illustration agency. Originally an illustrator, Stuart made the transition to become an agent in 2013. He handles all of the agency's editorial commissions, regularly working with clients such as the Guardian, the Washington Post and the New Yorker and works closely with Handsome Frank's 35 illustrators.

We are delighted to announce that in Part 1 for 2016 we are working in collaboration with The Goldsmiths' Centre to advise graduate jewellers and silversmiths.

The Goldsmiths' Centre is the leading charity for the professional training of goldsmiths and our aim is to create a skilled workforce, boost the economy and promote craftsmanship in the UK. Users of the Goldsmiths’ Centre can access training workshops, conference facilities, a lively café as well as a state-of-art venue for exhibitions and events. Home to a creative community, it is a place for people and businesses with an interest in jewellery, silversmithing or the allied trades to learn, collaborate and connect. The Goldsmiths’ stand at New Designers 2016 will be a hub of information for all recent goldsmithing graduates as well as those interested in the industry. Sarah Angold set up her eponymous London design studio in 2010 upon graduation from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Constructed Textiles. Sarah's voracious interest in all creative disciplines led her to structure Sarah Angold Studio in a highly agile collaborative way. It’s a design ethos that’s led to all manner of exciting projects from designing concept cars for Toyota in Japan, to lighting installations during her residency at the London Design Museum, to 3D printed and wearable tech consultancy.

Emily Carter - British designer Emily Carter is based in London and specialises in graphic illustrations and luxury silk scarves and pocket squares. The designs incorporate themes from natural history, scientific illustration, flora & fauna and English Heritage to create surreal and unique illustrations and prints. Each scarf and square begins as a detailed original drawing, with experiments in colour and composition leading to the finished design. The products are printed on high quality silk twill, and are hemmed and packaged by hand. Iliana Taliotis is a London-based PR consultant and project manager working across the worlds of art, design, craft and culture. For over 15 years Iliana Taliotis has publicised everything from museum launches and art fairs to festivals and exhibitions. Iliana works with individual makers, designers and artists as well as with organisations to run imaginative and high-impact publicity campaigns, develop and manage projects and give strategic guidance. Current and recent clients include textile magazine Selvedge, North Lands Creative Glass, the Royal Academy of Arts and an arts and social change initiative called Creative People and Places. Before setting up her consultancy in 2015, Iliana worked with cultural PR consultancy Four Colman Getty and before that at the Crafts Council. Helen Dobson, Professional Training Administrator, The Goldsmiths' Centre - Helen joined the Goldsmiths’ Centre in November 2011 as the Professional Training Administrator, working for the educational section of the Centre. Prior to this Helen studied for a BA in Jewellery & Silversmithing at Birmingham City University’s School of Jewellery where she gained invaluable knowledge of the jewellery trade. In her spare time Helen makes her own jewellery from ethical, recycled and fair trade materials and takes a keen interest in ethical developments within the sector.
