GREENPEACE × ARTS THREAD COMPETITION: DISRUPT BLACK FRIDAY

Greenpeace chose ARTS THREAD as the platform for their MAKE SMTHNG Week Greenpeace x Arts Thread Competition to Disrupt Black Friday - a global campaign that uses maker-power to replace shopping with creativity and community spirit.

ARTS THREAD successfully delivered a strong turnout in both quantity and quality for the Greenpeace x ARTS THREAD Competition. See the ARTS THREAD photo reports from the two installations chosen, Return to Sender action installation set up in Milan on Black Friday and community-making performance Tensegrity created in Hamburg.

ARTS THREAD’s involvement:
ARTS THREAD used its contacts at all the leading art and design schools worldwide to nominate their best students and graduates who then uploaded a portfolio onto ARTS THREAD. The student or graduate uploaded their portfolio into a dedicated section of the website, so that the competition jury could easily choose their favourites. The jury were Greenpeace, ArtsThread, artist duo Guerra de la Paz and Sass Brown, Founding Dean of the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation.

The ARTS THREAD team manages this process and checks the portfolio is professionally presented and the jury evaluated the entries to establish the winer and five shortlisted artists/designers. Read about all the shortlisted entries.

ARTS THREAD’s team of editors and social media experts promote the competition partners Greenpeace and Make Smthing Week from the start of the competition through to compiling post-competition publicity from around the world.

Greenpeace said: 'we received entries from all over the world and were blown away by the variety of ideas and the level of skill so we wanted to say thank you to everyone that participated in this competition.'
