FESPA Printeriors 2018 Design Competition

FESPA seeks a pattern, or series of patterns, which will be realised in every element of the Airport Lounge of the Future 2030. The design will be used on furniture, walling, flooring, windows and more in the FESPA Printeriors showcase, in Berlin, Germany – which will be seen by more than 30,000 people. FESPA, the world’s leading federation of national associations for the print and graphic arts community, with a network of more than 150,000 members, organises the Printeriors showcase annually to highlight the myriad applications of print for the interior decor market. Printeriors represents part of FESPA's profit-for-purpose programme which sees FESPA reinvest its profits to support the graphic arts community worldwide. The Printeriors 2018 showcase takes place in Berlin, Germany from May 15 to 18 2018 - and will takeover the entrance to the FESPA Global Print Expo 2018, where it will be seen by 25,000 visitors from more than 130 countries, including brand owners, printers and designers, plus 5,000 staff from the 700 exhibitors at the expo, and including journalists from the world's leading design titles. Visitors to the event and members of FESPA's wider community serve various markets such as interior decor, retail design, POP/POS, signage and event graphics, industrial products and more. THE PRIZE Pattern design realised into a 1,200+ square metre showcase of interior decor creativity and cutting edge materials. The designer(s) of the three winning designs will be flown to Berlin to see their work realised in the Printeriors showcase, the largest of its kind in Europe and meet the companies that produced the items in the showcase, give interviews to journalists and attend the prestigious FESPA Gala Dinner on May 16th. The prize includes travel and accommodation in Berlin, plus free attendance at Printeriors 2018, FESPA Global Print Expo and the FESPA Gala Dinner (the black tie event where the winners of FESPA’s global Awards programme are crowned). There will be extensive media coverage of the designers and their role in the Printeriors 2018 showcase. With the top three winning designs featured as interviews on FESPA.com (fespa.com 539,000+ unique users annually, 70,000+ social media, 120,000+ FESPAWorld newsletter) and Arts Thread (80,000+ social media and 95,000+ on newsletter). Each designer will be featured on a showcase board within the Printeriors 2018 airport lounge of the future, - seen by some 30,000 people from across the global graphic arts community. Global exposure of the winners and runners-up' designs will be showcased on the Printeriors 2018 website and on fespa.com. ENTRY CRITERIA WHO CAN ENTER Open to 2016 and 2017 graduate artists/designers resident in Europe + students studying art and design in Europe (includes Turkey, Cyprus, Russia, Ukraine, Israel). Each area will feature a different pattern design. FESPA seeks three patterns that will be used at different scales for furniture upholstery, wall coverings, floor coverings, window decoration, bar counters, uniforms for staff, and be printed direct to furniture. The Printeriors showcase area will include a sensory experience engaging sight, touch, hearing and smell - this will be realised by FESPA with the pattern design(s) submitted. Through colour, print, pattern and texture, realise a pattern which is scalable from small items such as a brochure cover, to large expanses of walling (e.g. 4m high x 10m long). Patterns and designs will be judged on use of colour and 'movement'. WHAT HAPPENS AFTER SUBMISSION Your entries will be reviewed by the FESPA judging panel, and the winning entrants will be notified by February 28 2018. The winners will be invited to give interviews via telephone and to assist in pattern placement on the various surfaces/items on which it will be produced.
