VISION MMODE 2023 WILL BRING TOGETHER IN MONTREAL, STUDENTS, TEACHERS, INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS AND CREATIVES FROM AROUND THE WORLD AT THE 2023 EDITION OF THE MURAL FESTIVAL. IT IS ALSO AT THIS TIME THAT THE WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED.
15 SELECTED FASHION STUDENTS, (REGISTERED IN A FASHION SCHOOL/UNIVERSITY IN QUEBEC), WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHOW THEIR CREATIONS DURING A UNIQUE EVENT DURING THE FESTIVAL. THE CHALLENGE IS TO CREATE A CLOTHING INTERPRETATION OF THE STYLE OF ONE OF THE 3 ARTISTS PRESENTED.
THE RULES & CRITERIA
- The competition is only open to students enrolled in a Quebec fashion design program during the 2022/2023 year, as well as to 2022 graduates.
- The student will have to choose one (1) artist and be inspired by the aesthetics of this one in a clothing creation.
- The materials and fabrics are imposed and provided by CERTEX.
- The main criteria for being part of the 15 selected students are creativity in design and concept, respect for the theme as well as a well-crafted project and originality.
- Student work is protected and therefore out of sight.
- Students do not waive intellectual property rights to their creations when participating in the VISION MMODE contest.
- The student projects received are judged by a jury carefully selected by MMODE, ARTSTHREAD and FESTIVAL MURAL. (The jury will be announced in November) - The 15 selected students - finalists - compete for cash scholarships and different participation prizes. (Prices will be announced in December)
This unique competition is dedicated to celebrating emerging designers and their creativity but also to highlight the work of visual artists. A one-of-a-kind collaboration.
EACH SUBMISSION MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS :
- 1 PRESENTATION PAGE WITH YOUR NAME, YOUR SCHOOL, YOUR WORK TITLE AND THE ARTIST UNDER STUDY.
- 1 PAGE FOR THE VISUAL DEVELOPED CONCEPT OR MOOD BOARD, TESTS, ETC.
- 1 PAGE WITH ILLUSTRATION.
- 1 PAGE WITH THE TECHNICAL DRAWING(S), BACK AND FRONT, AS WELL AS THE MATERIALS AND FABRICS USED.

IMPORTANT DATES:
FIRST ROUND - The deadline to receive the first round document is December 31, 2022 on the ARTSTHREAD platform. Applications will be admissible from November 1, 2022.
THE JURY - January 2023
THE RESULTS - February 1, 2023
SECOND ROUND - Silhouette design and accessories (February to April 2023)
DEADLINE FOR RECEIVING APPAREL - April 28, 2023

VISION MMODE 2023 RÉUNIRA À MONTRÉAL, ÉTUDIANTS, PROFESSEURS, PROFESSIONNELS DE L’INDUSTRIE ET CRÉATIFS DU MONDE ENTIER LORS DE l’ÉDITION 2023 DU FESTIVAL MURAL. C’EST ÉGALEMENT À CE MOMENT QUE LES GAGNANTS SERONT ANNONCÉS.
15 ÉTUDIANTS EN MODE SÉLECTIONNÉS, (INSCRITS DANS UNE ÉCOLE/UNIVERSITÉ DE MODE DU QUÉBEC), AURONT L’OCCASION DE MONTRER LEURS CRÉATIONS LORS D’UN ÉVÉNEMENT UNIOUE PENDANT LE FESTIVAL. LE DÉFI EST DE CRÉER UNE INTERPRÉTATION VESTIMENTAIRE DU STYLE D’UN DES 3 ARTISTES PRÉSENTÉS.
RÈGLES ET CRITÈRES
- Le concours est ouvert uniquement aux étudiants inscrits dans un programme de design de mode québécois au cours de l’année 2022/2023, ainsi qu’aux finissants de 2022.
- L’étudiant devra choisir un (1) artiste et s’inspirer de l’esthétique de celui-ci dans une création vestimentaire. - Les matières sont imposées et fournies par CERTEX.
- Les principaux critères pour faire partie des 15 étudiants sélectionnés sont la créativité dans le design et le concept, le respect du thème ainsi qu’un projet bien ficelé et de l’originalité.
- Le travail des étudiants est protégé et donc hors de vue.
- Les étudiants ne renoncent pas aux droits de propriété intellectuelle de leurs créations lorsqu’ils participent au concours VISION MMODE.
- Les projets étudiants reçus sont jugés par un jury soigneusement sélectionné par MMODE, ARTSTHREAD et FESTIVAL MURAL. (Le jury sera annoncé en novembre)
- Les 15 étudiants sélectionnés - finalistes - concourent pour des bourses en argent et différents prix de participation. (Les prix seront annoncé en décembre)
Ce concours unique est dédié à célébrer les designers émergents et leur créativité mais également de souligner le travail d’artistes visuels. Une collaboration unique en son genre.
