This year, the focus is on service design in times of uncertainty. From planet-centric design to future-proof business, we’re on a mission to provoke your thoughts.

The festival takes place October 25 & 26 at the Design Museum and the Barbican, bringing service design to a wider audience over a two day festival.

Redesigning Youth Centers in The Gambia to promote safe migration - October 26 9.00 at The Barbican Centre.

The UN Migration Agency (IOM) and designer Simon Meienberg joined forces to find new ways of reaching out to young people in West Africa. To spot adapted ways for promoting safe migration, Simon Meienberg conducted one month of field research within youth centers in The Gambia. His people-centered assessment of the youth center’s social profile and discoveries of untapped creativity will guide real-life solutions and future activities. During his talk, he will address the methods he used, his key findings and why it’s important to build bridges between the design and the social sector.

With the support of IOM, the Gambian National Youth Council runs migration information offices within 3 existing youth centers. This pilot project is part of the the EU-OM Joint Initiative.
