ARTS THREAD takes a look at the alternative exhibition Information Point, curated by students from the Royal College of Art's Jewellery & Metal MA programme at this year's Munich Jewellery Week on show Wednesday 13 to Saturday 16 March 2019.

'RCA’s hub breaks free from the constraints of white-walled gallery traditions, rejecting the formal exhibition tropes and tired questions that inevitable come with every MJW. Aren’t you sick of that stuff by now?

'In lieu of a formal display of finished works, a ‘detective board’ functions as a live visual exploration of critical thought as it relates to the creative process, and is a constantly growing/shifting/changing in real time over the course of several days.

'Taking a wholistic look and tackling varied facets of the field and beyond, we are facilitating participatory programming with themes that run the gamut from accessibility of academia, to tactility and touch in the context of a gallery space, to pagan rituals, and a reading group on being and selfhood. There is also a breakfast, a sale, and a film screening that doubles as nap time and MJW respite. Isn’t it time for a change?'

Designers are: Ashley Wahba, Chloe Valorso, Grace Windey, HaoRui Wang, Haoyang Sun, Hongdu He, Joy Bonfield-Colombara, Micaela Mornaghi, Ming Zhao, Mingze Zhang, Noura Alserkal, Puyu Liang, Rui Liu, Shiqi Li, Ting Deng, Tsz Ying Wong, Wen Xin, Ximan Yuan, Yilin Gao, Yilin Wang, Yiqi Wu, Yiwen Peng, Yujia Gao, Yunqi Zhang, Yutian Zhang.

Information Point runs Wednesday 13 to Saturday 16 March 2019 at LOVAAS, Fürstenstraße 6.
