About
I am a Costume Design and Making student currently studying at Buckinghamshire New University. My passion for sewing has grown over the years, starting from sewing trinkets to sell at school fares to making garments to enter world-wide competitions.I fell in love with theatre from a young age, growing up with the immersive beauty that has made me strive and develop a set of costume skills I am proud of and well known for within my community.The future is truly unknown, but I will never lose my love for the creative arts, both theatre and film.
My first project in Buckinghamshire New University was designed with the new 2023 ‘Barbie’ movie in mind, challenging the idea of what a perfect woman looks like. The garment was created by adapting an original 1950’s wedding dress pattern and combining it with a unique twist of a runaway bride gone wrong. Drawing inspiration from Tim Burtons ‘The Corpse Bride’ I used recycled tulle ,handmade ribbon flowers and basic distressing techniques to give a ghost-like appearance.
