This project was based on designing 10 costumes for a hypothetical MV for the song Te Venero by C. Tangana, a Spanish rapper. The song emphasises very hispanic themes such as the importance of family and how religion is still a very prevalent topic both in the older and younger generations even though it affects them differently. For this, I researched into the rapper aestheitic and how I could merge it with the traditionalism in Christian iconograpgy. Finally, I constructed one of my designs which shows the rapper as "greater than God" by plaguing the costume with religious symbolism whilst keeping the stereotypical rapper apparience. Some interesting details of the piece are the fabrics which were printed for this project and designed by me. The embroidery, which was done mixing media such as aplique, hand embroidery or using the domestic machine. The wounds of the cross were recreated using beading which I embroidered onto mesh and glued on the skin as sfx make up.
