"Errantia" explores the intersection of biology and design, and is inspired by my long-standing fascination with ecology. Before deciding to pursue a creative path, I intended to study biology and my thesis has become a way to reconnect with that passion. Merging scientific curiosity and visual storytelling, wanting to extend that same fascination on to others. First exploring the concept of mesocosms (human-made self-sustaining ecosystems) led me to focus on worms, captivated by their function, colors, and textures. Worms are detritivores, a type of heterotroph that obtain nutrients from dead organic material, breaking them down into their chemical components. Often overlooked organisms that are essential to the continuity of life, forming the foundation of ecological cycles. Errantia become a living organism in its own way, dictating its never-ending evolution.
