1 in 6 children experience sensory processing difficulties, yet there is a considerable gap in the market for sensory accessories designed for children. This has a personal significance to me as my sister, Tilly, has Down syndrome, whose preferences and experiences have been a personal driver throughout the project. For Tilly, too much colour can cause a ‘sensory overload’, leading to the use of a calming spring colour palette throughout. A modern edit of nostalgic 70s motifs, with a playful pop of colour, has composed a print collection that provides the fashionable design to a functional sensory accessory, such as headphones.
