About
Hey, I am Rik and I just graduated from Sint-Lucas Antwerpen. Here I studied illustration but always showed interests in animation too. Therefore I try to combine these two trades into something new, thus I am constantly experimenting with new techniques and adapting my visual style.My master-project does this excellent, especially in the balance between a digital and traditional techniques. Every frame is drawn with pencil and paper but the final product is a digital film. In it we follow a man's daily routine where he lives in a space colony aroundthe moon. This vision of the future is based on the current space program, Artemis 1, of NASA. By focusing on daily themes I could give a new meaning to science-fiction.
The year is 2101, humanity has left Earth and developed a new space colony around the Moon. This vision of the future is inspired by NASA's 'Gateway,' which has now become a reality. In this short film, we follow the daily routine of a solitary worker who is determined to carry nature with them. You can find a more in depth explanation of my work and process at the end.
