My name is Areen Halabi, 26 years old, from Israel. I am a recent graduate of Shenkar College of Engineering, Design, and Art. Throughout my degree, I discovered the kitchen as a vast source of materials and inspiration. I use various techniques, including modeling with Rhino and 3D printing. I am always intrigued by exploring new materials, combining different substances, Transparency particularly fascinates me. There is nothing more fulfilling to me than pushing boundaries and breaking new ground.
Food and cooking are a source of inspiration for me, a place of abundance, tradition and hospitality. As a traditional Druze girl, connected to my home and roots, I am exploring the renewal and preservation of traditions and customs. For this purpose, I started at my grandparents house, gathering traditional handmade feminine items. In this project, I focused on traditional basic foods that I grew with: Saj - a Druze pita, Zakalit Labneh - Labneh balls in olive oil, and Dukka - which is a spice mixture primarily based on za'atar. I designed ceremonial serving utensils for these foods, with each utensil reflecting the specific food, whether it’s related to the production process, a tool used, a specific action, or a particular need. Techniques: Casting, modeling in Rhino, 3D printing. Materials: Ceramics, silver
