When do you feel unsafe? Who protects you in public spaces? Does your safety have a price? The fictional Brand Re Act guarantees you absolute safety. Re Act promises that moving around day or night is no longer a challenge. With Re Act‘s self-defense wearables it is easy to protect yourself. Offering you optimal, real and absolute safety ist the expertise of Re Act. The project presents itself in form of installations with the appearance of pop-up shops, where encounters, discussions and workshops take place. It provides a platform for questions, reflection and discussion. The viewers are invited to ask themselves what their needs, duties and privileges in public space are. Because of its temporary format the project can be seen on our website and instagram page. Using the tools of critical and speculative design, the project questions whether and how consumer goods are part of structural problems rather than solving them. What do the things we buy tell us about the society we live in? To illustrate Re Act, we used a language that is unfamiliar to self-defence equipment. We noticed that the self-defence industry uses military, technical or gender stereotypical language: Many of these products are designed "for women" and therefore use gender-specific codes. We created a specific design language that puts the scenario in a new context. The lines of the product design are organic and fluid, they blend in with the body. www.reactstore.ch @re.act.store
