About

I’m Aydan Valiyeva, a third-year Fashion Design student at Regent's University London. I specialise in textile manipulation, illustration, and concept development, creating work that is research driven and visually distinctive. My practice focuses on translating personal and cultural stories into tactile, sculptural garments with a clear and refined aesthetic identity.

Nar, meaning pomegranate in Azerbaijani, is a womenswear collection exploring themes of unity, fertility and abundance rooted in Azerbaijani cultural symbolism. Growing up surrounded by pomegranate imagery in the Old City and traditional souvenirs, I developed an early fascination with the fruit and began painting it from a young age. These personal memories inform the narrative of the collection.

Caged Elegance draws inspiration from the opulence and structural innovation of the1850s to 1860s, particularly focusing on the era’s iconic crinolines. Beyond fashion, the 1860s were a pivotal period in Victorian architecture , a transitional decade that blended historical revival styles with groundbreaking advancements in construction technologies.

Inheritance Refused contrasts fragile, porcelainn inspired forms with oversized puffer silhouettes, exploring the balance between vulnerability and protection. Inspired by the tradition of repairing and reassembling broken objects, the collection focuses on reconstruction and creating something new. Influenced by grunge, it embraces imperfection as a form of rebellion.
