Fragments ° [by Brendan Arekhi] Concept: A world drenched in mundane reality and a society of structured, colourless living designed to bring ease and joy to people’s lives begins to crumble. From a single drop of colour that begins to spread amongst us, these layers in society begin to deteriorate and peel back. For the first time, fresh, green tones emerge and bleed into society and enforce a new way of living upon everyone. The saturation is turned up and individuals begin processing it in countless ways (embracing, ignorance and fear). This change of colour has left its mark on the world and its people. A shift that has forced societies to adapt, leaving countless casualties in a state of shock or saturation. However, the fearless amongst the crowd whom embrace colour will carry the weight of this change and help shift everyone to a newly coloured way of existence. Introducing Ruby Hangar: Serving you a fierce recipe for the perfect midnight snack. Ruby covers a range of steps and outfits each of which represent different stages of her personal growth. During the climax of the video she reaches a stage of inner rage which is brought on by her desire and need to be loved by others. She finds herself going through a metamorphosis in which she discovers that the love she can give herself is the most true love of all. To conclude her journey she decides to burn her needy past; followed by her biting into a flower, starting her inner growth. Drag culture has been on the rise for decades. Now more than ever is a time where we have to use whatever platform we have to encourage and communicate diversity to be at the forefront. The fashion industry itself is rich in potential to shift our society and world into a better direction and I am thrilled to use this opportunity to promote change for the better. This video was created in the depths of the global pandemic which unveiled a lot of unspoken emotions. As a team of artists trapped and surrounded by these difficult times our only instinct was to express this creativity and put it towards something positive. Our goal was to bring a lighthearted, comical fashion film which is perceived for its creativity as well as diversity to promote that even in the darkest of times, its crucial to highlight that our creative language cannot be muted.
