About
maker of colourful ceramic objects and installations
This series of ceramics street furniture is a way of exploring craft as a catalyst of joy within everyday life. My practice focuses on the intersection of craft, accessibility, collective joy and function. I’m interested in questioning how we can use joy and pleasure as a tool for positive change and impact, through our understanding of the objects and environments surrounding us. I wanted to recreate recognisable street furniture, such as a public bin or bench, but elevate them to something excessively colourful, silly, sparkling and fun. Through having a clear function, there exists the possibility for tactile interaction and accessibility to my work. The hope is that by reimagining these often mundane objects, we can introduce a moment of joy and surprise into daily public life.
