About:

Hello! I am Fareha Iqbal, Fahion design graduate from NIFT Bangalore. I am always looking for nee opportunities and areas to venture. As a designer, I love to play with the weave of the fabric and attention to details. I can say that I am a sustainability enthusiast.

Memories are the architecture of our identity. If we don't have a past, how would we live the present and make sure that our future is brighter than all the past days combined, if we don't have any recollection of it. As I was thinking about what my most important final year collection should be based on, I stumbled upon something which can only be described as a corresponding time in my parents lives as mine. It was a damp looking folder, with frayed corners, and gullible papers, that contained their college documents, marksheets, some notes, some proofs, that my parents were once young, ambitious, full of hope and a little mischief. All of that still holds true for them, 30 years later. The final year collection is inspired from my father's old folder, that is named "Dastaawez" (urdu word for document). It is 30 years old. Upon opening it, it felt as if it hasn't spoken in so long, that feeling of nostalgia and the forgotten memories. The folder didn’t seem like something torn or rustic, but something delicate that needs to be handled carefully and with grace. The keywords that have been derived from the inspiration is based on the physical attributes of the present state of the folder. The delicate pages with torn edges, Hand feel/touch, Layers, the lines, the wavy texture on the folder, the weave structure ( torn at places ). The mood of the collection is nostalgia.
