About
With a lifelong passion for creativity, design, and colour, I am a textile print designer whose work is defined by a strong sensitivity to composition, detail, and visual balance. Often drawing inspiration from the richness and intricacy of the natural world, my practice merges traditional techniques with contemporary digital processes. I begin with hand-rendered drawings, which are then developed into repeat patterns through digital refinement, resulting in versatile and resolved designs suitable for a range of surface applications.
I am particularly interested in creating immersive and visually engaging textiles that transform spaces through considered use of colour, pattern, and scale. Influenced by a personal interest in maximalist design, my work embraces layered compositions with bold imagery and colour, while maintaining a clear sense of structure and cohesion.
‘Unbound’ is a celebration of life, colour, and the visual richness of the tropical world. While initially grounded in research exploring ecological concerns such as deforestation, biodiversity loss, and climate change, the project evolved into a creative exploration that balances environmental awareness with a sense of admiration and respect. Rather than focusing solely on narratives of loss, my work seeks to honour and amplify the resilience, diversity, and vitality of tropical ecosystems. The concept of’ Unbound’ is used as a release from constraint, both conceptually and visually. This idea draws directly from the immersive and expansive qualities of tropical landscapes, where growth is continuous, organic, and unconstrained - forms overlap, intertwine, and evolve freely. In response, my designs embrace dense compositions, layered motifs, and intricate details to echo this sense of natural abundance. I deliberately explore unexpected, unnatural colour within my designs to reimagine the natural world through a maximalist lens, reinforcing my concept, pushing beyond realism to create bold, expressive designs that celebrate freedom, imagination, and visual intensity. My process begins with hand-painted drawings which are then digitised and developed into repeat patterns, enabling me to refine composition and experiment with scale and colour. Alongside a digital print collection, I have explored traditional textile techniques, translating my designs into hand-printed lengths with bold, saturated colours that aligns with my concept. The final collection is designed for interior settings, positioned within the higher-end maximalist interiors market. Influenced by maximalist design, the work embraces bold colour palettes, layered compositions, and visual intensity which mirrors the intensity of tropical ecosystems. These immersive patterns are intended to create enveloping environments that reflect the richness of tropical world, transforming interior spaces into expressive, sensory experiences. This approach is supported by research into biophilic design, reinforcing the connection between interior environments and the natural world.
