About:

I am currently a BAfashion design student developing my skills to enable my creative growth. I believe my experience working part time has enabled me to attain good customer and communication skills I have learnt to work with a team and understand to care for others. Additionally, my degree has equipped me with the right skills set that are needed to be involved in an internship or a junior level role. Along with my experience working with cad programmes I have also learned garment constructing skills.

COLLECTION TITILE – CULTURE GAMES For my collection I am exploring my British Indian heritage. Looking at the differences these two cultures bring and merging them together. I am combining and clashing the traditional Indian fabrics with more athleisure and sportswear styles of silhouettes and fabrics. I was inspired by the delicate embellished Indian garments and wanted to incorporate this with casual sportswear. Both complete different styles of clothing and adorned for two different occasions. The idea of my concept came about when I was looking at England in particular multicultural city's and how citys like London and Leicester have people form all types of different backgrounds and cultures . This made me look at my parents both immigrants from Africa who started a complete new life in Britain and how they adapted to a western society. One way they did this was through dressing . I wanted my collection to be personal and meaningful and to be a reflection of who I am. People like me of my background are not usually seen in the industry so I wanted my collection to speak for me and be recognised with many youths who come from immigrant parents.

A series of prints i created during the lock down period. As i had a lot of time i wanted to utilize my time by creating work which i liked and to increase my Photoshop skills. I usually wear beige and brown tones in my clothing so i was inspired by that i wanted to reflect that in these prints.

For my textiles project i had to include an element of textiles to my garment. I decided to use print work as i feel this is one of my strongest skills. For my concept i researched the significance of cloth and what it means in different society's and cultures. For the print work i decided to look into the draping of fabric as this is a style used across different cultural clothing. I draped cloth around a mannequin and wrapped it around flowers. I then edited the photos and layered various images of my own photography on top.

PCA Work wear competition project Concept- I researched temperature and in particular i took interest in how society over time has developed design for cold conditions. I decided to use employees who work in the cold fridge department in the supermarket as my muse. My aim was to design a uniform suitable to be worn in the cold conditions they work in.
