About:

I am a final year Fashion Design student at the University of Leeds specialising in Womenswear. I have previously interned at Erdem as a Product Development intern, and at Three Graces London as a Studio intern.

THIS PROJECT IS CENTRED AROUND INNOVATIVE IDEAS, AND THE CREATION OF A NEW CONCEPT, EXPLORING THE IDEA OF SLOW FASHION AND ITS REBELLION AGAINST THE ‘THROW-AWAY’ SOCIETY FACILITATED BY FAST FASHION. IN LIGHT OF THIS, I WILL AIM TO DESIGN A COLLECTION THAT PROMOTES SLOW FASHION, AND THE IDEA OF HOLDING ONTO GARMENTS AND TREASURING THEM, IN SOME CASES AS A FAMILY HEIRLOOM, PASSING THEM DOWN GENERATIONS OR GIVING THEM TO A CLOSE FRIEND TO MAXIMISE THEIR LIFECYCLE LENGTH AND REBEL AGAINST THE FAST FASHION ECONOMY. MY BRANDING WILL CENTRE AROUND A KEEP ME THEME TO EACH GARMENT, AND I WILL AIM TO CREATE BEAUTIFULLY DESIGNED AND MADE GARMENTS WITH HAND SEWN PERSONAL ASPECTS TO THEM, WHICH WILL ENCOURAGE THE CUSTOMER TO NOT WANT TO PART WITH THEM AND TO TREASURE THEM. THE AESTHETIC INSPIRATION BEHIND THE COLLECTION IS DELICATELY HAND DRAWN, HIGHLY DETAILED ARCHETECTURAL PLANS, WITH THE DETAIL AND CARE TAKEN IN THEIR CREATION REFLECTING MY SLOW FASHION INNOVATION, WHILST THEIR CONTRASTING GEOMETRIC AND CIRCLULAR SHAPES WILL PROVIDE SILHOUETTE INSPIRATION FOR THIS SEASONLESS COLLECTION.

MARINE UTILITY X COS

Marine Utility x COS is an Autumn/Winter collection for 2021, inspired by the clothing worn by fishermen throughout time. It utilises an aesthetically simplistic utility-style silhouette. The traditional fisherman's Gansey has inspired the knitwear within the collection, along with the structures of fishing nets. The overall feel of the collection is that it is quite 'masculine', as it is inspired by the fishermen and the industrial style clothes they wear to work. The collection's muse, Guenivere van Seenus, is the epitome of androgynous chic with her 'tomboy' aesthetic and often simplistic styling. The garments in the collection use clever tailoring inspired by COS in order to look simple, but are in fact cleverly constructed. The collection primarily uses natural fibres such as wool and linen to mirror historic fishermen's attire, with Polyester scuba and ripstop Nylon juxtaposing this to reference the more modern fishermen's clothing. Layering forms the backbone of the collection, inspired by the fishermen's necessary layering of garments to keep warm when out at sea. Soft knitwear contrasts with sharp tailoring to give the collection a unique aesthetic, creating practical utility style outfits with a fashion focus in line with the COS aesthetic.

Kimono x Whistles is a Spring/Summer collection inspired by ancient Japanese artworks. The prints and patterns in these works will be alluded to throughout the collection in bold colours on lightweight garments perfect for the Summer weather. The collection will channel sophistication, with the designs centring around their muse, influencer and socialite Olivia Palermo. Kimono style wrapped silhouettes will also feature heavily, embracing Japanese cultural dress within this ecclectic collection.

This Autumn/Winter 2021 collection is made for the party-season, inspired by the bold, un-apologetic styling used in the BBC series 'Pose'. This collection captures the essence of the New York city underground drag ball culture in a fashion forward collection marketed at the young, London city party girl. With garments made for the festive season, this Topshop collection has everything needed to get through this years party season.

Strike a Pose x Rodarte uses a range of luxury fabrics to create an ethereal collection with a high-end, ready-to-wear feel. Inspired by the documentary 'Paris is Burning', along with the DNA of the Rodarte brand, the collection utilises bold, eye-catching silhouettes with a distinctly feminine feel to them. The home-made drag ball outfits of 'Paris is Burning' were unique to each walker, so each of the garments in this collection utilises this ethos- becoming beautiful unique pieces displaying the personality of the wearer.
