About
I am a Bournemouth based textile designer with a strong interest in textiles for fashion. I bring experience in hand and machine stitch, CAD machine embroidery, laser cutting, digital prints and repeat patterns.
This project explores British wildflowers and Hungarian lace and embroidery, but explores them in a more abstract and contemporary way. I am inspired by the detailed patterns, textures and colours found within Hungarian textiles. I am influenced by Hungarian lace and embroidery that I came across on my trip to Budapest. This project looks into Hungarian lace through cultural appreciation, reinterpreting their traditional motifs by drawing inspiration from British wildflowers. Within this project I have distorted and stylised floral shapes, mixing bold forms with more detailed drawn elements to create contrast. This approach has allowed me to develop an edgy Spring/Summer womenswear collection that feels modern and expressive.

My textile designs are deeply rooted in the visual contrasts I experienced while on holiday abroad. Emerged in an unfamiliar landscape, I became particularly drawn to the striking coexistence of opposing natural forms. This juxtaposition became a central theme within my work. By using my techniques of digital print, hand and machine stitch and laser cutting I was able to show the connections between the softness of florals against the harshness of cacti.
