I’m a textile designer specialising in woven textiles whose practice explores how emotional states can be translated into material form. Working across hand and digital weaving, I investigate structure, density, and colour as a way of building a coded visual language.
My work draws from systems of public signage but resists fixed clarity, instead allowing emotions to appear layered, distorted, and unstable. Through the use of repeated motifs, monofilament, and experimental techniques including beading and surface manipulation, I explore the tension between visibility and obscurity... how something can be both readable and overwhelming at once.
My project explores a coded emotional language expressed through woven textile structures. Through weaving, I investigate how emotions can be translated using material, density and repetition rather than literal imagery. A series of experimental samples using monofilament and cotton and puff print to control visibility and clarity, with beaded weaves where density reflects emotional weight and colour These material interventions create textiles that shift between clarity and overwhelm, positioning weaving as a system for expressing and physically experiencing emotion.
