The Master's Programme in CRAFT! is a cooperation between the three tracks Ceramics and Glass, Textiles and Ädellab. The programme perceives the making of crafts as a relevant method for questioning the current state of things.
The Master's Programme in CRAFT! offers three tracks:
You apply directly to the track you wish to be admitted to.
Ceramics and Glass
Ceramics and Glass takes as its starting point the cultural context of the materials in order to question and develop aspects of material culture and challenge the field of craft.
Textiles starts from an exploration of materials, techniques and strategies to deepen understanding and the critical possibilities in contemporary textile practices.
Ädellab defines itself as an experimental laboratory for jewellery and corpus (silverware). We explore jewellery and corpus as phenomena – their cultural significance and potential for contemporary artistic expression.
Master's Programme in CRAFT!
We use craft as a tool for critical investigations through and about making and materialization. The programme is characterized by a social engagement anchored in the understanding that craft can exist between and beyond traditional borders.
During your studies you undertake experimental practical explorations with the materials, techniques and other means available within Konstfack as well as outside. Critical thinking and probing norms and conventions form a crucial element of the programme and can be described as the unifying theme for every aspect of what is done and discussed in CRAFT!
CRAFT! prepares you for a future career as a professional practitioner. Therefore the focus is on your project, based on your individual expertise within the field. Great emphasis is placed on individual responsibility for planning and the subject specific research. Artistic practice has the capacity to communicate well beyond national borders and we offer an international education with English as the language of instruction.
CRAFT! offers some of Europe's best equipped workshops. As a student you are part of an international student group with tutorials and support from internationally established artists and other expertise, in a living, creative environment. You will deepen your knowledge in one of the three tracks below while at the same you will have the opportunity to extend your views of contemporary craft.
