Experience/age: Open to all students and recent graduates of Fashion or Textile Design, provided they are not yet full-time employed in the industry and graduated after summer 2013. Please ensure you have read the Terms & Conditions for Eastpak Artist Studio Wildcard Competition Entry: Free Deadline: June 30 MIDNIGHT GMT Prize: Each finalist will receive a budget of €400 and two original Eastpak Artist Studio blank Padded Pak’r® backpacks with which to produce a working prototype of their design. They will also receive an Eastpak travel gear package valued at €300. The winner of the Wildcard Competition will receive a place alongside some of the world’s most renowned fashion designers, such as Jean-Paul Gaultier, at the Eastpak Artist Studio, with all the prestige and publicity that entails. The winning design will be integrated in the project’s communication platform. The designer’s creation will be sold at auction and all proceeds will be donated to the charity organisation Designers Against Aids. THE BRIEF Participants must come up with an original design for transforming a blank Eastpak Padded Pak’r® backpack into a unique work of art. Anything goes: you can redecorate, recover, reconstruct or even reinvent the bag, provided the Eastpak Artist Studio logo remains intact and visible. Download the Eastpak Padded Pak’r® backpack technical drawings with Eastpak Artist Studio logo THE DELIVERABLES Entries Must Include*: 1 - A mood board illustrating the inspiration behind the design 2 - Sketches of the design itself 3 - Full technical specifications (materials, dimensions, etc.) * All images should be high-res JPEG files - minimum 1000 pixels high. JUDGING CRITERIA An independent jury will select the three most promising submissions based on creativity/originality (50%) and aesthetics/style (50%). WHAT HAPPENS AFTER SUBMISSION An independent jury will select the three most promising submissions. The finalists will be notified by July 15th 2016. Each finalist will receive an Eastpak travel gear package valued at € 300, as well as a € 400 budget to turn their design into a working prototype. The deadline for production of the prototypes is August 15th 2016. The finalists creations will be published on the Eastpak Artist Studio website: artiststudio.eastpak.com and on this Arts Thread Competition page. Visitors to the site will be invited to vote for their favourite design. The online competition will run from September 1st to September 29th 2016. The final winner will be determined jointly by popular vote (50%) and an independent jury (50%). The winning design of the Wildcard Competition will be included in the full line-up of creations as such, it will gain significant exposure via the Eastpak Artist Studio communications platform. All creations will be auctioned off and the full proceeds donated to the charity organization Designers Against AIDS.
