Specialising in fashion fabrics, my practice utilises mixed media to create outcomes for a range of contexts. I particularly focus on using embroidery and embellishment techniques in my designs.
This project utilises different embroidery and embellishment techniques to portray different motifs/ elements of Renaissance Artworks. Taking inspiration from paintings, sculpture and metal works, the motifs used within this collection have been stylised for design purposes. The main sources of inspiration were the paintings: 'Primavera', 'The Birth of Venus', and 'The School of Athens'.
This project was based around the Great Gatsby- film and book- as well as the typical visuals seen within a Casino. Using a range of embroidery, embellishment and print methods, I researched and explored different attributes of this theme to create a collection based around visuals seen throughout the sub-themes of the project. Beading was a particularly important attribute of this project.
Based on the brief of 'Hand & Lock: Traces of Transition', this project is based around the visuals of a peacock. Looking into womenswear, I based the samples that I was doing around different factors of past womenswear silhouettes and popular fashion (such are corsets and neck ruffles) to inform the types of samples I created. Beading, laser cut and fabric manipulation were all important processes used in this project.
This project saw the use of different insect and bug visuals to create a fashion fabrics collection. Utilising a range of different embroidery, print, embellishment and laser techniques, I translated hand-drawn (digital and physical) motifs into various designs. Sustainability was a huge factor within this project, with the majority of fabrics used being recycled or repurposed.
